SUNFLOWER SEEDLING
Per piece
Cotyledons (Seed Leaves):
The first two leaves that appear.
They are oval and not the same shape as mature sunflower leaves.
They help provide energy from stored nutrients in the seed.
True Leaves:
Appear after the cotyledons.
Typically heart- or spade-shaped with serrated edges.
Arranged alternately on the stem.
Stem (Hypocotyl):
The early stem grows upward and thickens to support the plant.
Sunflower seedlings tend to grow fast and can become leggy without enough light.
Root Development:
A strong taproot forms early and digs deep to anchor the plant and absorb water.
Light: Needs full sunlight—at least 6–8 hours a day.
Water: Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
Temperature: Warm temperatures (65–75°F / 18–24°C) promote growth.
Spacing: If planting outdoors, thin seedlings to avoid crowding.
